The Daily Life Of A Dancer

By Marissa Velazquez

There are many different forms of dance that exist in the world today. In general, the routine is the same in that a person has to practice for hours in order to do a show. They also have to keep their bodies in good shape in order to be able to perform at their best. This article will look at the the daily life of a dancer in ballet.

A typical ballerina has to make sure they start the day by attending a warm up class. In these classes, one will do basic exercises to strengthen the arms and legs. They also do stretches which help to elongate the limbs and keep them supple. This is done before going to the rehearsals which has to be done every time a show is done.

Rehearsals can last for four to six hours and sometimes even longer. A person usually has a schedule showing them the different time slots for the show they are rehearsing for. If there are other dancers who are injured, the schedule can change so one has to always check to make sure they have the right time.

Injuries are common in the world of dance as it is also in the world of sports. This results in others having to fill the shoes of the person who has been injured. There are studio rehearsals and there are the stage rehearsals. The performers first go to the studio rehearsals where the space is smaller and various scenes are worked on.

The second is the stage rehearsal, which is done in the place where one is going to perform. There are sets put in place to create the atmosphere for the show and one has to dance to live music instead of a piece that is being heard through a stereo. One is also preparing to dance in front of a live audience and will therefore need to be focused.

There are times when one has to see a physiotherapist when there is any sort of injury or concern. The body is the most important instrument and one has to make sure that everything is in perfect condition. Being healthy is of prime importance and one has to be sure to eat and sleep well which also helps with preventing unnecessary injuries.

The daily diet is important, since the body is the instrument of the dancer. Many stay away from junk food at all cost because of the toll it can take on their bodies. In order to have the energy needed to perform night after night, the diet needs to be very clean and healthy. This will not only allow one to have a lean figure, it will also help a person to stay in shape mentally.

The everyday life of a dancer is one of dedication, and delivering the best one has to offer to the public. This is not something that one can do on occasion and expect to get results. One has to be willing to train everyday in order to get results and reap the rewards of their efforts.
