Does Creativity Have A Place In Modern Society?

By Hedrick Lepsch

The more we look around the more we see society getting control of the elements and creating a more organized way of living. Will of the information and new ideas that have spilled out over the centuries one has to ask oneself, "Do we really need creativity in today's society"?

There are so many advances that is seems like maybe mankind is running out of ideas but in order to truly understand the way we feel it might be helpful to compare it to how people felt over a century ago. A century ago people were fascinated with steam power, perplexed by the idea of flight, and overwhelmed with what we could do with science.

However, the impact that can be made by a nurse who does his or her job well and who has genuine compassion for their patients can be equally great and will leave an equally lasting legacy. A great nurse, not unlike a great teacher, singer, or mathematician, has the potential to influence life and the world for good. Because of the powerful effect nurses can have, it is important that nurses are well educated, not only in bookwork but also in empathy and compassion. Often the best nurses have had experiences with medical problems of have seen medical problems of those close to them.

One of the major setbacks is restrictions from government or not enough protection of ideas given by the government. We all know that governing a large body of people is not easy task and comes with a lot trial and error. Another major inhibiter is the institutional road blocks placed in front of all of us when we enter the school system. There are so many pushes to teach children to conform and to be disciplined. In some ways we stifle creativity by telling kids that this is the right way and there is only one to make things work. At the same time there those who fight the system with their creativity and become an anomaly. There are other things that stifle creativity, from organizations hammering down the "nail that stands out" to people being promoted for being just like their boss.

If you are going back to college you are most likely a little more experienced with managing your time and staying organized, however you are probably much more busy than you were as a simple college freshman. This means it may be more difficult for you to balance your work life, school life, family life, and social life. If you are worried about staying organized use technology to help or simply write down all of your assignments in one place. If you are worried about being able to manage your time, start with a smaller load of classes until you become familiar with your own schedule and abilities.

If you want to get your degree but are still worried about time restraints, family, and other obligations then maybe an online degree would better fit your life and schedule. Receiving your education online is a great way to go if you do not have the time or the means to attend classes.
