How To Send Email Marketing Messages That Matter

By Leanora Bernieri

When you set out to use email marketing, you need to have the knowledge to do it the correct way. Bypassing the spam filters and being sure your subscriber reads your email is what you need to do; what special tricks can you add to your toolbox to be certain that your plan will work? Keep reading if you want to get the most useful tips around!

Steer clear of renting or purchasing lists to pad your email marketing database. Not only do you not know if the emails you have purchased are truly your target market, but the lists can actually hurt your deliver-ability rates and ultimately your reputation. As much as possible, build your list organically.

Do not send emails that were unsolicited. If marketing materials are sent out to individuals who didn't request them, they could mark these massages as spam. That is detrimental to your reputation, but if some ISPs receive a lot of complaints about you sending unsolicited emails, your IP address may be blocked.

The beginning and conclusion of your marketing email should include a call to action for your customers. Be clear about what you want your customer to do, and include at least two obvious links to your site. Use clear suggestions that direct your customers to the offer your email is promoting.

Creating brand recognition should be considered when developing your marketing emails. The template you create must include your branding, including logo and color scheme, to match your other marketing materials. This brand recognition will create a more professional appearance.

The link to unsubscribe from your list should be clearly visible. Don't try hiding your unsubscribe link as this will only frustrate customers. Your goal is for customers to choose to keep receiving your newsletter because they enjoy reading it.

In addition to using email marketing, incorporate SMS marketing into your campaign. Have customers sign up for an SMS option and send them text messages when on the go. When these two methods are used together, you have a better chance of getting more customers to sign up for your product.

Try following up with a product review when sending a follow-up email to your clients. You could insert a link onto your email that informs them to enroll by clicking on this link. The ending P.S. on the message could urge them to take advantage of this opportunity that you are providing them.

Give customers the choice of getting a plain text version of your email marketing materials or a rich text version. Customers can choose the option they prefer when they sign up for your newsletter. Plain text versions don't include graphics, so customers with slower connections or overactive spam filters might appreciate this option.

So you should now have a greater understanding of email marketing and how it can help you make your site become a great success. Keep in mind that email marketing is but one of many ways you can build success with your site, so don't limit yourself and add email marketing to your arsenal.
