Do No Follow Links Help Out

By John Musa

Marketers are slowly saying 'rest in peace' to content marketing. The algorithm changes that Google has implemented now require that any paid link must have a nofollow tag. Value has dwindled in the promotions that brands have grown accustomed to.

What value does a sponsored link provide if the PageBoost rank is irrelevant? It is common knowledge that brands only use online promotions to increase their rankings in the search engines. When marketers focus all of their time and energy on SEO efforts, they miss out on the bigger issue at hand. The new type of SEO is not only about search engine results and traffic generation, revenue and engaging the brand is also very important.

A link is able to drive home a lot more than just higher rankings in search engines. These links are able to provide the level of exposure that is necessary in modern times to move forward and become that much more visible to the target market. A well-placed link with a nofollow tag is still a whole lot better than no link at all. It is as simple as that because the exposure is invaluable and will lead to increased traffic.

Content Matters: In the end, content will win over any other method that is employed to engage and woo the target market. Any individual that is clicking on links will want to sift through quality content instead of reading bland, repetitive material that does not serve any purpose.

Instead, it will look like the site is trying to build up links naturally without overtaking some of the specific do follow sites. This is an important feature, so do not be discouraged in this process. Realize that every link does count, even if it is a no follow link. Google, simply wants to see a nice diverse backlinking structure before ranking a site highly in the search engines.
