Twitch: Can Long Island Advertising Agencies Use It?

By Robbie Sutter

If you're someone who considers themselves a gamer, chances are that you already know about Twitch.tv. Brought to the forefront in 2011, this live video streaming platform has grabbed the attention of a massive audience, not only in relation to gaming but sports and entertainment as a whole. Of course, you may be curious about how businesses can take advantage of such a platform. I am of the opinion that a number of Long Island advertising agencies have the potential to use it.

It wasn't only the general audience that has taken an interest in Twitch.tv, either. Just last year, Amazon announced that it would be purchasing said platform for $970 million; a hefty sum, to be certain. As a result, one could imagine that Amazon sees this as a future business endeavor, and one that they can build well into the future. Of course, in order for this to be done, sight should not be lost on what made this platform popular to begin with.

Twitch.tv is brimming with content, some pieces perhaps more appealing to you than others. Most of the standout content relates to video games, including speedruns, which are attempts by gamers to compete certain titles in as little time as possible. In my time on the website, I have seen "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" completed in the time it would take to finish even a single dungeon. This site has its perks, depending on what interests people have.

In order for a Long Island advertising agency to take advantage of Twitch.tv, the creation of content must be a focus. Specifically, it has to be able to hone in on a particular audience, which I am sure companies such as fishbat can agree with. Even though this website has a broad gaming and sports fan base, this doesn't necessarily mean that those two interests are the be-all and end-all. As a matter of fact, all it takes is a bit of research to see that there is even more that rests beneath this particular surface.

Long Island advertising agencies are unique, in the sense that they can change with the times. I am sure that few can overlook this, especially with the advent of different social media platforms. Twitch.tv is most definitely a platform worth recognizing, regardless of if you're someone who's into gaming or simply entertainment as a whole. If companies figure out what this website is all about, it won't be long until they can maximize its effectiveness for long-term results.
