Cloudmagic Brings Fast Cloud Search To Mobile Users

By Cornelius Nunev

Looking across Gmail, Google docs, contacts, calendars, Twitter updates and more is old news for desktop and laptop consumers. Alternatives are available for mobile consumers, but the outcomes have usually been less than adequate. That is why an application like CloudMagic seems like magic. It hosts the user's personal index in the cloud for simple indexing.

Access every little thing with CloudMagic

Larger devices have had access to CloudMagic for a while now. It just recently made its debut in the mobile industry. With the cloud OAuth technology, you are able to access contacts, calendars, Twitter, Gmail and even Google Docs. The move to the mobile market came after CloudMagic began to include Twitter updates in the cloud computing.

Compatible with both iPhone and Android smartphones, CloudMagic is "surprisingly quick," notes TechCrunch. CloudMagic and Bangalore Institute of Technology representative N.R. Chirag pointed out how superior the service is to a smartphone's built-in search feature, which is typically a variation on the Google Search mobile application.

"It is not only faster than native searches, it integrates your personal data across different online services. It is like one search box and you can search across all your personal data," he said. "Indexing Google and Twitter services is a start. There are many more to come. With the increasing online services, we believe one needs a fast integrated search."

According to TechCrunch, Greplin has more services to offer than CloudMagic such as Dropbox, Tumblr and LinkedIn. This is why CloudMagic could have to add a lot more services if it is going to succeed.

Startup last year

Even though CloudMagic was introduced in 2010 as a Chrome and Firefox browser plug-in, it is not required to use the smartphone app. You can still use it if you need access to CloudMagic search in Gmail and Twitter. The plug-in initially was able to index Gmail and Google Apps data.

Improved search

In the past, the From, To, Subject and All sections were the only ones you can search with an iPhone inside your email. Now, you are able to search for whatever you would like with specific named. You can find everything with a PDF attached to it by going to "filename: pdf." CloudMagic makes email search much better.
