Don't spend more than 15-20 minutes talking to applicants. It's enough time for both of you to size up each other and decide whether you can work with each other or not. The rest of the talking can be done by members of your team. They can teach the most important tricks to the new member while you can deal with more important issues.

When attracting people to your network marketing website, ensure that you discuss ways that joining will help the people who sign up. Include TRUE testimonials of your colleagues and what benefit they have derived from joining the company you represent. Add graphs and statistics that factually show how their income has grown, and continues to grow.

Learn everything you can about your product so that you can share your enthusiasm and knowledge downstream. An actual excitement for a product is contagious and can be the extra thing that turns someone from a no into a yes. Be an expert on your product and you are halfway to the goal.

Stay away from projects that require you to pay to get in. If you have already paid up then the person doesn't have any real motivation to work with you or help you succeed. They will just get busy pulling in the next person to pay in. Work with people who will have to work with you.

Network marketing strategies aren't free, but you also shouldn't just rely on paying for marketing materials. Classified ads, paper, ink, telephone costs, there are many things you have to consider, but make sure you keep a portion of your profits for technological advances. New techniques for marketing come up often, so you should have some money put aside to cover those costs, too.

People are going to need a reason to trust you as a network marketer, and it is up to you and you alone to give them this reason. If you cannot think of a reason why someone should trust you with their investment, then perhaps you should find something else to do besides marketing.

Recognize your value-building statements and use them in your presentations. You want to let your prospects know what they are going to get out of this. Keep bringing up the prospect and their family. Phrases like "Your family will benefit by...", "What this means for you is...", and "The value to you is...", will keep people engaged in truly imagining themselves working with your product.

Cold calling is a great way to increase the number of leads you have for network marketing, but your list shouldn't be TOO cold. Try to find people who already have an interest in the field you're in, or who come recommended by others. Just calling out of the phone book is highly unlikely to gain you any leads.

If you want to run a contest for your downline, make sure that you supply all the tools and information you can to help them succeed. The worst outcome of a contest is that the person in last place ends up dejected. You need to make sure that they know and believe that the contest actually gave them great benefit from all they learned during it.

Have realistic goals. Do your homework and know how many people you can reasonably expect to recruit in a given amount of time. The numbers may vary from product type to product type, and you need to research networking-marketing businesses that are selling products that are similar to yours. Knowing what you are going to be able to realistically accomplish will save you disappointment later.
