But, it will still depend on you to check if the set controls are effectively done and made by the device. If not, then do some necessary changes and help yourself come up with what you think is the most outstanding. Always preview the result before scanning. A good device usually decides for the best adjustment applicable for the pixels found.

The automatic options cannot always save your day as the device does have limitations when it comes to adjusting all the settings immediately. Some photos are just beyond the capabilities of these tools. To get the best quality however you need to judge it based on your eyes and mind. If you think it is better then be it.

Upon checking that the image is not presented the way you want it like it may be too light or too dark, use the exposure option to manually adjust the setting. If everything seems not fine after doing it then try to set the midtones. This option will darken or lighten the object to achieve the desired texture.

If the photo seems to be too light however then set the bright control to come up with the setting your prefer. If a too bright scale is adjusted, it will then result to pure white. All the details that are not important on the area may be eliminated. The same application can happen with darker images. So, just make use of the necessary options to come up with the best.

When you control the midtones of the scanner, the darker or the lighter pixels of the photo will not be affected. Only those that are found to be in the extreme locations of the image. This option will aid you to make it darker or lighter or as to how you want the photo to be without eliminating the specified highlights.

You can adjust the photo as well using the saturation control. Make use of any controls only when you need it, do not use it when you think it is not necessary. The saturation control helps you improve the vividness of the applied color. Do not over use this option however as it may result to being out of context or focus.

Most scanning software automatically chooses the best setting for you. It is you however that will control everything as you know how things must be done according to your tastes and artistry. Any setting will do as long as you first will learn how to scan. It is good to read some books as well or research regarding the various adjustments that must be done when dealing with an image.
