Sell Art With Postcard Mailers

By Matthew Kelly

There are still times when paper mail is preferred over an email. While the latter may be faster and not need a stamp to send, there are some moments when people prefer something they can hold in their hand. One example is postcard mailers that are made with heavy stock paper and have a vivid image or artwork.

Finding a piece of artwork in the mailbox is not quite like receiving a bill. Clear images that tell a story can take the recipient away from those things that are not so exciting. Even functional art can trigger positive feelings that can balance having to spend all day at the job.

The days of using plain white or pastel postcards is history, as vivid photos allow the recipient to have a mental vacation. Seeing a picture of nature might think of a weekend getaway. An image with a realistic looking plate of food and a cold drink may inspire them to get together with friends. A postcard with a pet dressed up in a costume may have the recipient ponder getting a new addition to the family.

A nice picture of any subject makes most people feel good. Even if the image is funny or abstract, the attention to details is what will hold the attention of most. There are instances where an announcement may go out but the recipient cannot attend or make a purchase. While this can happen sometimes, most artists are happy to have that engaging experience with those on their mailing list.

Anyone who relies on visuals to sell their services or products should include as many of the best images they can find. It not only helps with promotions but an image can help with branding as well. A good, clean image will always resonate with clients and prospects. This does not translate the same in the online world, as some details may not be captured in the same fashion.

Like any other business, cutting corners can do an injustice to the visual. While some home businesses may be able to get away with using a basic printer for textual mailing cards but it is different for the artist. It is almost impossible to duplicate the same colors, details, and other attention grabbing features with a printer intended for home use.

Many professional printers have reasonable rates and can produce work quickly in time for events or product releases. Additionally, some services will accommodate those who need a small batch of postcards. For the business that is just getting started with their marketing, it may be best to order enough to do a test run.

New technology allows most professional printers to give customers a preview of the product. They also have the tools to make slight photo edits to enhance image quality and will offer recommendations for the best images to submit. Many do this because they realize the demand and want as much repeat business as they can handle.
